Return Of The Saint is a British action-adventure television series that aired for one series of 24 episodes in 1978 and 1979 on ITV, which was co-produced by ITC Entertainment and the Italian broadcaster RAI. The show is a revival/updating of The Saint, a programme based on the stories of Leslie Charteris, which had originally aired from 1962 to 1969, and starred Roger Moore as Simon Templar. Here he is played by Ian Ogilvy.
Templar is an independently wealthy, somewhat mysterious 'do-gooder' known as 'The Saint'. who travels around Britain and Europe, helping out the people he encounters, though he is also often summoned by past acquaintances.
The series debuted on September 10, 1978 and 12 days later the theme tune, composed by Brian Dee & Irving Martin, was released as a single, credited to The Saint Orchestra (probably The Steve Gray Orchestra as Gray is credited as conductor). It was not a hit. The b-side, "Funko", had featured in The Sweeney.
